Celebrities commit themselves to lots of causes. CPAP therapy isn’t often one of them.
But Jordan Faeth, who rose to fame on the reality dating show “Love is Blind,” has partnered with cpap.com to bring awareness to sleep apnea.
Faeth is using his platform to address common misconceptions about sleep apnea and the therapies that help manage it, including discussing his own use of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, which he revealed to his partner in Season 10 of the hit Netflix show. In fact, he calls his CPAP device his “most precious possession.”
As part of the effort, Faeth and cpap.com amplified educational campaigns across platforms to educate Americans on the signs of sleep apnea in order to take charge of their health and seek out diagnosis and treatment. It is estimated that as many as 90% of cases of sleep apnea go undiagnosed.
By partnering, Faeth and cpap.com shared information about the signs and symptoms of sleep apnea, encouraged earlier diagnosis, looked to normalize CPAP usage through education and provided accessible resources to an underserved community.
According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, a person with untreated sleep apnea is three times more likely to die compared to those who do not have this condition. Left untreated, sleep apnea has been linked to increased risks for chronic health conditions such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and fatigue that impacts daily life.
