ANNUAL SALARY & STAFFING SURVEY

HomeCare surveyed readers who are home medical equipment (HME) providers and home health agencies (HHAs), as well as other in-home care providers, to get their input on salaries, benefits and staffing. We hope that sharing this information provided by your peers helps you better run your business. Thanks to all who participated!

Here’s what stood out from this year’s data:

  • Most respondents held their staffing levels the same or grew: 76% of HME providers say that in 2025 they either kept staffing the same or increased, and 76% of in-home care providers say they increased staffing or held steady—down from 86% in last year’s survey.
  • For HME organizations, staffing growth is mostly in customer-facing roles: 47% plan to add customer service and/or technicians this year, 32% want more sales and sales support and 25% need delivery staff. There were also several mentions in individual answers of hiring pharmacists or pharmacy technicians.
  • Recruiting remains the biggest challenge across the board: 45% of HME providers say it’s their largest hurdle (about the same as last year), far ahead of retention (21%) and training (23%). For in-home care providers, 47% named recruiting as their primary challenge—a slight drop from the previous year—followed by retention at 35%.

Note: Some charts may add up to less than 100 due to rounding. Others total above 100 because respondents selected more than one option. In some cases, answers with low percentages may have been combined.
